Looking for an editor?
Hi! I’m Ja (/j-ah/).
I find the balance between the needs of creativity and clarity while enhancing your words and preserving your voice.
I’m based in Bangkok, Thailand, but I grew up and studied in the US. I offer copyediting and proofreading for all writers and for writers that need help getting started, I offer two special services.
What kind of editing do you need?
Each kind of editing has a different mindset and goal.
If you know what you need, great! If you don’t, I’m happy to help you find the right path.
Standard Editing
Copyediting
You need accuracy, consistency, and a little shine.
Proofreading
The words and sentences are set. You just need to make sure everything is in its place.
Something a Little Different
“Check My Work, Please”
You just need to know that you’re on the right track: a quick analysis on your flow and grammar.
“I Don’t Know”
No problem! Let's talk, and I can help you get an idea of what kind of editing would best serve your writing—even if it’s something I don’t offer. (It’s free!)
Balance is an editor’s job.
Yes, there are rules, but they are never absolute. There are times when you use them and times when you can break them—the art of writing comes in recognizing those moments. That’s when your reader can sense a subtle emotion, get swept up in your character’s joy, or completely lose themselves in your world.
Let’s get to that exquisite moment where your ideas are more than just text on a page.
What can you expect from me as your editor?
-
I recognize the courage it takes to put your words out there and ask a stranger to evaluate your hard work. To me, kindness and patience are key to making each edit as comfortable as possible because I remember that there’s a person behind those words. My feedback to you will always be mindful and compassionate.
-
Related to kindness, I have to applaud you for coming this far—you’ve written an entire book, which takes immense dedication and focus! I will make sure that your words get the same treatment from me.
-
There is always something new to learn. I recognize (nor can I guarantee) that I’ll know everything about editing, but I can promise you that if I don’t know it, I’ll find a way to look it up or ask to get the answer.
-
I don’t like wasting people’s time. If you tell me it needs to be done by a certain day, I make sure my schedule is structured so I follow through. I’ve been freelancing for ten years now, and I know how to delivery quality work on time.

As an editor, I check for details that can go beyond the automated spellchecker: accuracy of facts, consistency of details, and repetition of words, among other particulars. There are many aspects to juggle, and I keep a close eye on it all as I read through your work.
